Why We're Connected to the Internet, But Not Each Other

Victoria Patenaude | TEDxMechanicsville

Despite unprecedented access to people across the globe, researchers report a growing epidemic of social disconnection. How we communicate, and who we communicate with, has shifted radically in recent years, with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds interacting daily; but we haven’t adapted with this shift. This talk explores how to bridge cultural divides to create meaningful connection with anyone, from any culture, including our own.

Victoria Patenaude is a North American communication consultant and the founder of Accentography, a boutique communication consultancy for international professionals. She holds a Master's degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders from Columbia University, and has worked in the field for over a decade. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community.
