VIRGINIA BEACH, VA — November 18, 2025 – Clarity Up Consulting announced today that it has won two Anthem Awards in the 5th Annual Anthem Awards: a Silver Award under Special Projects for Humanitarian Action and the Community Voice Award. The recognition honors the firm's message design and speechwriting work on "How to be an activist who creates real change," a 14-minute talk delivered by animal rights activists Carey Theil and Christine Dorchak at TEDxAlexanderPark.

The dual recognition—one from judges at the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences, one from public voting—places Clarity Up alongside notable winners including Google, World Central Kitchen, Paramount Pictures, and The Daily Show. Winners were selected from more than 2,000 submissions from 42 countries.

"Carey Theil and Christine Dorchak spent over 20 years ending commercial greyhound racing in the United States," said Brian Miller, Founder and Principal Consultant of Clarity Up LLC. "They had already succeeded in the anil rights space. They had a book. They had a sweeping narrative. But a TEDx talk is a different challenge—less than 15 minutes to reach a general YouTube audience who may not care about greyhounds, with no time for wandering narratives and a need for actionable takeaways. Our job as message designers was to clarify their message, condense their story, and help produce a script that delivers something meaningful without losing the heart of their work."

The recognized work tells Theil and Dorchak's story of persisting through repeated failures, learning to change laws rather than just minds, and ultimately building a movement that ended dog racing across the United States. For their work on the script, Miller and Clarity Up’s story specialist Francisco Mahfuz previously won the 2025 Cicero Speechwriting Award for Social Justice.

Miller emphasized that message design is not embellishment or invention, but translation. "Ideas don't speak for themselves. People do," he said. "Doing important work is necessary but not sufficient for creating change. You have to communicate that work clearly and powerfully. These awards validate something most people miss: the craft of translating important work into messages that move people to action."

Clarity Up specializes in message design and speechwriting for mission-driven leaders across five continents and 20+ industries, including animal welfare, marine science, LGBTQ+ rights, cybersecurity, women in STEM, disability rights, parenting, domestic violence, and human trafficking. In addition to their work on keynote speeches and critical communication campaigns, the firm has also supported 40 talks that have been uploaded to the TEDx Talks YouTube channel, which have earned over 14 million combined views and six Editor's Picks.
